Presentation 1 - Oral Epithelial Dysplasia & Its Doppelgangers: A Diagnostic Tightrope

Overview:
This course reviews oral epithelial dysplasia and the clinical entity of leukoplakia—an intraoral white plaque that cannot be rubbed off and cannot be readily identified as another condition. Attendees will explore the clinical and histopathologic spectrum of disease and review common look-alike conditions and key differential diagnoses.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review current terminology related to oral epithelial dysplasia and its mimics

  • Identify common differential diagnoses of oral leukoplakia

  • Discuss treatment considerations and outcomes

Presentation 2 - Tooth Trouble: Navigating the Spectrum of Odontogenic Lesions

 

Overview:
This presentation highlights common odontogenic cysts and tumors of the oral and maxillofacial region, with emphasis on radiographic features, differential diagnosis, and treatment considerations.

  • Review terminology related to common odontogenic cysts and tumors

  • Recognize key clinical and radiographic features

  • Discuss treatment approaches and outcomes

    Bio -  Dr. Bryan Trump is a board-certified Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologist and Professor at the University of Utah School of Dentistry. He directs Utah’s first and only oral pathology biopsy service and has established a clinical referral center focused on oral medicine. Behind the Mask: The Hidden Mental Health Struggles in Dentistry and High-Stress Careers

Mental health challenges in high-stress professions often go unseen, and dentistry is no exception. In this session, Gina Oliverson shares her personal story following the loss of her husband, orthodontist Sean Oliverson, to mental illness in 2024 and discusses the importance of recognizing mental health challenges within professional communities.

The presentation will explore why individuals in high-responsibility careers often struggle in silence and highlight ways colleagues and organizations can foster supportive environments.

Attendees will learn how to:

Bio- Gina Oliverson is the founder of the StayMENtallyStrong Foundation, a nonprofit created after the loss of her husband, orthodontist Sean Oliverson, to mental illness in 2024. Through her advocacy and speaking, she works to raise awareness about mental health challenges and encourage open conversations within professional communities.

She is also a business owner and mother of three and is committed to helping others find connection, support, and hope through increased mental health awareness.

Bio - Dr. Ben Quenzer is a board-certified anesthesiologist and President of North Dallas Anesthesia and Ulta Medical. He specializes in office-based IV sedation for dental and oral surgery procedures.

For over 12 years, Dr. Quenzer has trained dental teams nationwide on managing medical emergencies and improving emergency preparedness.
